Jeremy and Brittany's Clementine Hall Wedding
Q. What made you choose your ceremony or reception venues? Did they have any special significance to you?
A. Clementine was the perfect blend of historical and modern, and it was important to me to have the ceremony and reception close together to make it a seamless experience for our guests not having to travel across town from one venue to the next - so getting to have it all in one location was awesome. I also wanted to maintain the sacredness of a church setting, which (being a former church) Clementine definitely has that, but also transforms seamlessly into an event venue.
I loved the dressing rooms, the attention to detail with décor (for example, the gorgeous wallpaper) and the vibe made getting ready onsite so fun, and I loved the indoor/outdoor component with the courtyard. That gave me total peace of mind that no matter what the weather was, our venue was perfectly suited rain or shine (thankfully it turned out to be beautiful and sunny!) I didn't find this out until after we had picked that location, but one of my mom's best friend's parents were married there when it was the original church, and one of my aunts grew up going to church there as a child, so those kinds of things made it extra special!
Q. What is your most memorable moment from the wedding day?
A. The first look, of course. I was ALL about the wedding dress. I didn't even schedule our wedding date until I had my dress picked out! Once I put the dress on, it was such a rush of emotions, then those few moments right before the first look, waiting for Jeremy to come around the corner, when I saw his face - for a few seconds, time stood still. I'm super glad we did our first look and wedding party pictures before the ceremony, it gave us much more time to enjoy our day together.
Also, watching my family arrive. Rachel was taking photos and had me look out the window from the dressing room to get a shot from outside.... right as I did, my family was walking up the steps to the entrance, it felt like I was watching a scene from a movie. Time was in slow motion as I got to see my family all dressed up and full of joy arriving for our special day.
Q. What was your favorite part of the ceremony?
A. When our bridal party gathered close around and layed hands on us in prayer... when Carter had us turn and face the audience so we could everyone's faces, all our nearest and dearest gathered in one place just for us... and when Jeremy accidentally dropped my ring :) in our relationship, we laugh a lot... I was really starting to tear up at that point in the ceremony and didn't want to ruin my makeup, and the fact that he accidentally dropped the ring right then, it was almost like God's little gift of comic relief!
Q. Is there anything else you'd like to share about your wedding?
A. Things will inevitably not go as planned in some areas! Our wedding party was planning to give toasts at our rehearsal dinner, but we ran out of time that night. So on our wedding day, in the down time between taking photos and waiting while the guests arrived, my bridesmaids each delivered their toasts to me, just us girls in the dressing room, with my mom and my soon-to-be mother in law there. It was a super intimate moment where I really got to treasure their words. It wasn't how it was planned, but it turned out 10x more special. A lot of wedding things seem to go that way. :)
