Summer Highlights (Personal)

This summer, my husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary! We took a trip just the two of us to Jackson Hole, WY to visit Grand Teton National Park as well as Yellowstone. I brought along my old/new-to-me medium format film camera to challenge myself to use a different medium and it was a blast. Because you can’t see the images until you get the film back from being processed, it takes so much surrender and trust. Below are all film photos from our summer travels. We really enjoyed staying outside of downtown Jackson Hole in Wilson, WY. Everywhere you drive to is scenic, from the airport to dinner out to the numerous hiking opportunities. This trip checked off a couple of bucket list items for me and was a dream come true. I used this guide to help plan our trip.

We took a day trip up to Yellowstone. It was a long day with a lot of driving because Yellowstone covers two million acres, but it was so worth it! We passed bison, saw Old Faithful, experienced the Grand Prismatic Spring, and finished our tour with the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. We tend to have our best conversations in the car on long road trips, and this was no exception.

Later this summer, we were able to visit my in-laws in Wilmington, NC. Because of the pandemic, it had been far too long since we’d gotten to visit Brett’s hometown. We enjoyed time at the beach, a children’s museum, celebrating their anniversary with them, a ferryboat ride, and eating all kinds of seafood. Again, I loved having my film camera along. Henry (age 4) loves the beach, his grandparents, and is in such a fun, curious, imaginative stage of life and I want to capture it all.

A summer to remember! Thanks for following along.
