Shannon and Scott's Wedding, Cedarwood, Nashville

What made you choose your ceremony and reception venues? Did they have any special significance to you?

My grandmother had recently passed away and one of her greatest desires was that her grandchildren be married in a Catholic church. Scott and I really enjoy architecture and the history behind it. When I showed him photos of the Church of the Assumption in the Germantown neighborhood of Nashville he loved it. Not only is it breathtaking, but it reminded him of the church he grew up in as well. Ironically a few months later we ended up buying a house within walking distance of the church. We knew that having the ceremony there would be perfect for us.

Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them.

Walking down the aisle I chose Canon in D Major by Pachelbel, it was the same song my mother walked down the aisle to marry my father. We also played Ave Maria, my Meme's favorite song.

What reading did you have at your ceremony?

1 John 4:7-12 read by my beautiful college roommate: "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.  This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.  Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God;but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."

Describe your wedding flowers! Stunning! I still can't get over how beautiful Alicia and her team did with our vision. I wanted them to be fluffy and in ranges of pastels with pops of greenery. We used garlands strung over the balcony of the home and flowers overflowing on the dining tables, almost appearing as if they were growing there. Peonies are my favorite and they were accented with garden roses. We had accents of gold throughout our wedding and they even painted greenery gold!

What was your most memorable moment during your wedding day?

Scott and I did a sweetheart's table for dinner. It let us sit back and soak in the day, while just being so happy and excited for what was to come.

Is there anything else you'd like to share about your wedding?

We did not do a first look. It was something that we discussed and we thought it was a lovely tradition to see each other for the first time as I came down the aisle. To ensure that we had photos of the two of us, we asked Rachel if we could do an "after wedding" session. We got to get all dressed up again and traipse around the grounds where we had our wedding. Not only was it one less thing to think about during the day of, but we had so much fun getting to relive it a few weeks later.
