Baby's First Year Photos

I photographed Carli and Alex’s wedding in 2016 at Carnton Plantation in Franklin. It was so special to be contacted when they were due with their son, Hank, a couple of years later. This is why I love specializing in wedding and family photography, I can continue to serve clients as they progress into different seasons of life. For this post, I wanted to share a bit about my Baby’s First Year packages that I offer and tips for each session.

Newborn

I photographed Baby Hank in the comfort of his home when he was a couple of weeks old. For in-home newborn sessions, I recommend neutral-colored clothing, baby in a swaddle and planning the time based on when your home gets the best natural light.

6 months

We headed outside for Hank’s 6-month session. For this session, I suggest waiting until your baby is sitting up to document that milestone. Even if it’s a month or so after! We can do so much more with posing when your baby is upright.

1 year

From a baby to a toddler! This session marks a big milestone. You and your child survived your first year of parenthood! They might be walking around now, which is a huge change. This session was extra special because we took the photos at Carnton Plantation where Carli and Alex got married. I love meaningful locations. This one was full circle!

Newborn + Family

Hank got a baby sister! It was such an honor to document the beginning of a new season of life for this sweet family. There are so many great combinations we can get with these sessions, all in the comfort of your home. How about Baby Birdie’s awesome head of hair?
