Katherine + Brian, a Spring Wedding in Belle Meade
It’s cold and wintery here in Nashville, and with the start of a New Year, I’m already looking forward to the start of Spring with the longer days, new blooms, more outside time and the energy it brings.
I hope you enjoy this beautiful wedding and interview from this past Spring. Katherine, Brian, and little Henry were a joy to work with.
Q. What made you choose your ceremony or reception venues? Did they have any special significance to you?
A. First Presbyterian Church is special to me in so many ways - both my grandmother and my mom are cremated and remembered in the memory garden right next to the main chapel. I really wanted to be close to where they were on my wedding day because I knew how much they would have loved to have been a part of it. Secondly, I went to Oak Hill School for elementary school and I have so many sweet memories there. And lastly, it is where Brian and I are members and we absolutely love it there! Belle Meade Country Club is special to me because it's where I grew up going. I have a lot of memories as a child at the pool, enjoying family dinners, holiday events, etc. First Presbyterian Church and Belle Meade Country Club were very easy venue decisions for me!
Q. What is your most memorable moment from the wedding day?
A. I have a few memorable moments from my wedding day - the first would be when Henry (my son) saw me for the first time and the second would be when we walked into the reception and saw how beautiful everything was. It was really special because my Uncle did the flowers, and they were absolutely stunning. Of course, my first look was also very memorable - oh, and when I heard the bagpiper begin his walk down the aisle before my dad and I stepped out. It was so surreal!
I remember being very tired that morning because Henry had a randomly high fever the night before and I was up all night with him. I think I got a combined 3 hours of sleep - haha! But adrenaline (and children's tylenol) was a huge helper that day.
Q. For the bride -- what do you admire most about your husband?
A. I love how selfless and kind Brian is. He walked into the role of 'Dad' to a then-14-month-old seamlessly and I will ALWAYS admire him for that. He is always doing the things I don't want to do without even asking and I probably don't say 'thank you' enough. He is such a hard worker, so thoughtful - he writes me notes in the kitchen every morning - I could just go on and on. I definitely found a wonderful man to do life with and I feel so very fortunate for that.
Q. For the groom - what do you admire most about your wife?
A. Where do I start, the list goes on and on. I love the mother Katherine is to Henry and the mother she will be to our soon to be baby girl. Katherine is one of the most kind and loving people I have ever seen. You can see her strong passion and enthusiasm in everything she does- such as following her strengths and starting an events planning company. She also takes care of things I may take for granted - cleaning the house, running around doing errands and chasing a highly energetic 4 year old all while being pregnant. I am very grateful that I made that first call and am now lucky enough to call you my wife!
Q. Our favorite detail of the wedding was:
A. I had a few favorite details of our wedding - the bagpiper, the cigar bar, the flowers (oh, the flowers!!), our band (The Downtown Band) was incredible, our party favors of water bottles and pedialyte packets for the guests was funny and was actually a big hit. However, my favorite detail of the wedding was when Henry saw Brian and ran into his arms before he finished walking down the aisle. They have the best relationship and it just has me in a puddle!
Q. What was it like being in front of my camera?
A. It was so great and effortless! You did our engagement photos so that definitely helped us get comfortable in front of a camera. I thought it would feel awkward, but it didn't at all! You made everything so comfortable and I just trusted your style - you have great style! And I am just thrilled with all of our engagement and wedding photos!!
Q. What's next for you as a couple?
A. We have a baby girl on the way and she is due to arrive in March. We are beyond thrilled for this next step and it's so surreal that we will have 2 kids - haha! Other than that, we have a few family trips planned and we are excited to take our family of 4 on all of our adventures!
