Portrait Session F.A.Q.
Where can our session take place?
Choose a location that holds meaning for your family! Here are a few ideas:
List adjustments for consistency and smoother flow:
Your home: It’s familiar and cozy—great for capturing candid moments like kids playing in the front yard, relaxing on the porch, or enjoying popsicles in the backyard. If your home has plenty of natural light indoors, we can shoot inside too—think kids playing with toys in their rooms or the whole family snuggled on the couch. I want everyone to have fun!
Your favorite scenic park: perfect for a walk or a casual outdoor adventure.
A meaningful spot: consider your wedding venue or where you had your first date.
What should we wear?
Mom’s outfit sets the tone—start there and coordinate everyone else around your color palette. Pick about 4 colors and 1–2 patterns. The goal is harmony—not matching. For example:
Palette 1: black, brown, tan, cream, with leopard print and stripes
Palette 2: olive green, denim/navy, brown/khaki, cream, and plaid
We’ll have one outfit per family for our 1-hour session. For baby sessions, feel free to bring a second outfit for a mid-session change.
What should we bring? Can we bring our dog?
What to bring: Snacks, baby wipes, tissues, and water are great for keeping little ones happy. Because we’ll be moving around a lot, bring only what you need and leave the rest—like phones and wallets—in your car.
Want to bring your dog? Totally fine! Just make sure someone is available to handle them when they’re not in the frame.
Props? I typically skip them—they often feel forced. We’ll focus on natural surroundings and genuine moments instead.
What should we expect after the session?
Your photos will be ready in about 2 weeks. In the meantime, think about where you’d like to display them. Is there a blank wall that would become a perfect gallery space? Or maybe a large print for each child’s room?
If you’d like a visual preview, send me a photo of the wall with a sheet of printer paper taped in place. At our meeting, I’ll create complimentary mock-ups so you can envision how the images will look at home.
What is our Photo Premiere and Ordering meeting?
Once your photos are ready, I’ll contact you to schedule your Photo Premiere & Ordering Meeting—all in the comfort of your home. You’ll relax and enjoy a slideshow of your images, and we’ll explore options like digital files, framed prints, and albums. I’ll show mock-ups as we talk through your choices.
This is your design consultation, so come prepared to make decisions—and plan to finalize payment at the end of the meeting.
I’ll send a separate FAQ with more details on this meeting and the products available.
I’m looking forward to working with you and your family! Feel free to reach out with any questions.
