Spencer and Lindsey - Natchez Trace Engagement Session

Our inspiration for this Engagement shoot was a drive down the Natchez Trace in the fall. If you live in Nashville you know that it's hard to beat. I really enjoyed getting to know these two and can't wait for their wedding at Scarritt Bennett!

When did you know that he was the one?

"This is going to sound so cheesy, but I knew that I was going to marry Spencer after our very first date in college. There was just something about him! Even though we broke up and got back together a few times throughout our several years of knowing each other, I always knew that Spencer was the man I was supposed to be with. I guess the saying “when you know, you know” was really fitting here!"

I know that part of your dating relationship was long distance, what did that teach you?

"Long distance was so hard and I’m so glad it’s over, but looking back I am so glad that we had to date that way for a year! We learned so much about communication. Between me working night shift and Spencer being an hour ahead in Cincinnati, we truly learned how to cherish every minute that we were able to talk to each other and didn’t take any second for granted! I think we really grew as individuals and also learned to love each other better."

What are your favorite qualities about each other?

"Spencer is hilarious. His personality and smile can light up a room, and he always knows how to make me laugh. He is also very sensitive and thoughtful. Spencer always thinks of others and puts them before himself, and I really admire that in him. He pushes me to be a better person."

"Lindsey has a sweet disposition. She goes out of her way to help others. She’s kind and steadfast in her beliefs. She’s fun-loving and always up for an adventure. She loves the Lord and it shows in how she treats people."

Any advice for others planning a wedding?

"Don’t sweat the small stuff (I’m still reminding myself of this in the months leading up to our wedding)! Enjoy being engaged. After Spencer proposed, I remember feeling so overwhelmed trying to pick everything out and making decisions so quickly. We had to step back and refocus on the fact that the most important thing was that we were going to be married, and that it wasn't worth it to freak out over something silly like the color of the tablecloths—nobody is going to remember that anyway!"

What are you most looking forward to about marriage?

"We recently bought a house in Sylvan Park, and neither of us have moved in yet. Seeing it all come together as our little home makes me so excited for us to move in and start our life together! We are so excited for what lies ahead and to grow in our relationship with each other and the Lord together."
